![]() When I was younger, my mother made cakes for every holiday. Granted, the family gatherings were full of good times and memories, but usually what made them special was how my mother decorated the cakes for these events. And for the most part, I enjoyed them...until one day I walked in on her making the icing. *shivers* I didn't eat cake for a long time after that. But, now that the shock is finally over, I've come to enjoy cakes again - while making them since my mother "retired". I completed the three Wilton courses in July of 2006, and would love to one day be an instructor. Until then, here's some of the cakes I've made. I don't have the ones from my first class (so make sure you take pictures if you ever take a class! :) ) ![]() This is a simple cake I made for Father's Day, using the easy but hard looking shell border and some cute stuff I purchased at a cake decorating store. ![]() Making fancy cakes like this is fun, but does take quite a bit of time. I also used too much red dye in this. Everyone who had a piece had a pink tongue. *blush* ![]() Another star cake for my place of employment (any guesses where that may be? ;) ). ![]() My final cake from Course 2! With the basketweave on the side, and sugary birds and flowers, it tasted as good as it looked! ![]() Working with fondant. I wasn't too eager to work with it since I don't like how it tastes, but you can do some pretty cool things with it. It's not too hard to peal off either, so you can avoid eating it. ![]() My final cake from Course 3. I make over 100 of the little purple flowers and ended up using all of them! I was very pleased with how it came out, I just wish I made flowers to put on the top as well. |
